Nature Through Arts Collective welcomes Mel Beirne to help coordinate the Imagine My City pilot! The nature loving team leapt into the trees on the edge of the town belt at the Prince of Wales Park for a team photo expertly wrangled by Mt Cook photographer Mary Hutchinson.

Supported by the NZ National Commission for UNESCO, the project aims to better connect young people and their families and whanau to nature in their ‘backyards’ through a fusion of arts and nature experiences. We’ve scouted several wonderful neighbourhoods in Wellington and the project is now underway in inner city suburb of Mt Cook nestled under the town belt.
Together with some other members of the Imagine My City Project, including Mt Cook Mobilise (Mt Cook residents) and Binge Culture Collective (theatre company), the team spoke with Ali Whitton on Access Radio’s fabulous B Side stories – “tales from the people who make Wellington tick”.
Please check out Ali’s interview which is online now and available here http://bsidestories.org/2015/09/02/nature-through-arts-collective/ for more information about the project which launches with a creative neighbourhood event in November followed by a 100 day creative challenge.
